Docker has released Docker Desktop 4.42, bringing broader support for Docker Compose v2 and adding native GPU passthrough on Windows and macOS. The company says the update is now generally available and is aimed at improving performance and simplifying container workflows for developers.
The release also introduces a redesigned Settings interface, which Docker says is meant to make configuration easier to navigate. The changes are part of a wider effort to streamline the desktop experience for users who build and test containers locally.
Compose remains a core part of Docker’s developer tooling, and the new integration is intended to reduce friction when managing multi-container applications. By adding GPU passthrough on more platforms, Docker is also targeting workloads that depend on accelerated computing, including AI and graphics-heavy tasks.
Docker Desktop 4.42 is available now through the company’s official release channel. Developers can review the update notes to see the full list of changes and compatibility details before upgrading.
