🔶 Can inspectors return to Iran’s nuclear facilities? Raphael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, expressed optimism about the inspection of Iran’s nuclear facilities. This week, he said the agency will soon inspect Iran’s nuclear facilities again. According to him, a framework agreement recently reached between the United States and Iran provides for such a possibility. The exact timing of these inspections has not yet been specified. Grossi said: “But it will happen. Whether it is the day after tomorrow, next week, or in ten days, what matters is not that, but the fundamental issue.” However, the Iranian government has taken a much more cautious stance. Kazem Gharibabadi, deputy foreign minister of Iran, announced that regarding international inspections and access to nuclear facilities that have been targeted by an attack, decisions can be made only within the framework of the final agreement with the United States and after progress in the process of lifting sanctions. Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations Office in Geneva also recently emphasized that Tehran has not, so far, agreed to the return of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s inspectors.
