🔸 Uganda parliament approves deployment of forces to Gaza Strip

The parliament of Uganda has agreed to the government’s request to send this country’s army forces to the Gaza Strip under the title of the International Stabilization Force. In a session, lawmakers this week agreed to the government’s request to deploy a detachment of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

The Gaza Stabilization Force (ISF) is a multinational military coalition that is planned for deployment in this area based on the “Gaza Peace Plan,” with the authorization of the United Nations Security Council, and its process of formation and preparation is underway. According to reports, this force is expected to operate to ensure security and create stability in Gaza. Uganda and Morocco have announced their readiness to take part in it, but the start date of the mission has not yet been specified.

At the end of July 2026, Israel’s security cabinet approved the entry of part of the Gaza Stabilization Force and representatives of the Palestinian transitional authority into a limited area in Rafah. This force is expected to operate in areas of Gaza that are not under the control of the Israel Defense Forces.

The decision was announced as Israel’s control over parts of Gaza has increased. Based on reports published in the months after the October 2025 ceasefire, the area under Israeli control in Gaza has risen from about 53% to more than 60%.

Despite the ceasefire between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group in October 2025, attacks and clashes in Gaza have continued.

In recent days, Reuters has reported on intense Israeli attacks in different areas of Gaza and the continued tensions with Hamas. This is while disagreements between Israel and Hamas over disarming the group and the extent of the Israeli forces’ withdrawal from Gaza have faced fundamental obstacles to carrying out the next phase of the ceasefire agreement.

Israel considers disarming Hamas and the destruction of the group’s military infrastructure as prerequisites for withdrawal, while Hamas calls for the stopping of attacks and the withdrawal of Israeli forces before it hands over its weapons.

Under these circumstances, the Israel Defense Forces still control parts of the Gaza Strip, and the process of implementing the peace agreement and establishing new security arrangements in this region faces serious obstacles.
