🔶 Two people were killed following a shooting in Mashhad

At the same time as a funeral ceremony for Ali Khamenei in Mashhad, in a shooting incident in the Safarazān neighborhood of the city, 2 people were targeted by gunfire.

Amirollah Shamakdari, security deputy of the Police and Public Safety of the governorate of Razavi Khorasan, said about the shooting: “This incident occurred at around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday night, 18 Tir, in the Safarazān area, and it was not a terrorist incident, and more details are under investigation. Based on initial investigations, first two people got into a fight for personal reasons, one of whom is killed, and with the intervention of a third person, the second person also dies. Both people were killed with a firearm.”

Security officials denied any shooting incident or any security-related event in the central fabric of Mashhad and around the shrine of the eighth Shia Imam.

Shamakdari said that Safarazān Boulevard is located in the west of Mashhad and is about 17 kilometers from the shrine.

While confirming the deaths of the two people in the incident, he said: “The cause of the incident and the identity of the victims are still not known.”
