Trump: Iran’s war will end after the US midterm election, but not with a bad deal

🔸Donald Trump, the U.S. president, on Sunday, September 22, once again said he expects Iran’s war to end shortly after the U.S. midterm elections in November, but emphasized that he will not agree to a bad deal with Tehran.

🔸Speaking to reporters during his trip to Ireland and his participation in the “Irish Open” golf tournament, he said: “Iran’s war will end right after the midterm election; maybe even before then, but it will be over after the election. The price of gasoline will fall like a stone.”

🔸He also said Iran is strongly seeking to reach an agreement and has repeatedly contacted the United States.

🔸Trump explained: “I’m going to tell you this: Iran desperately wants to make a deal. They keep calling. They want to do a deal. But they have to do a good deal. I’m not going to accept a deal that is not good.”

🔸The U.S. president first mentioned the period after the U.S. midterm election as the time for the end of the war with Iran on September 18, and since then he has repeated it on several occasions.

🔸However, during the past week, he has also threatened that the U.S. military may attack Iran’s nuclear facilities in Kalah Gtesla Mountain.

🔸Kalah Gtesla Mountain is located near the uranium enrichment facilities of Natanz, and Western intelligence agencies believe Iran is building a secret enrichment facility deep inside this mountain.

🔸In his Sunday interview with reporters, when asked about Iran’s upcoming meeting with Middle Eastern Arab countries, Trump also said: “It doesn’t matter to me. It’s up to them. No problem.”

🔸Iran said on Friday that a meeting with Gulf Arab countries would be held on Monday, September 23, in Oman, and a senior Iranian official also told Reuters that the meeting would be held at the initiative of Muscat and that the status of the Strait of Hormuz would be one of the topics of discussion.

🔸This comes as Bahrain announced on Saturday that before the resumption of diplomatic relations with Iran, it will not take part in any group meetings with the Islamic Republic, and therefore will not attend the proposed meeting about the Strait of Hormuz.

🔸The spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the possible agreement between Iran and Oman on setting temporary and safe routes in the Strait of Hormuz does not necessarily mean establishing “complete and sustainable security” in this waterway.
