The Public Relations Office of the Imam Reza IRGC announced that two Basij forces named “Sayyid Sajjad Alavi” and “Mehdi Hoonarmand” were targeted by gunfire near Saffarazan Square in Mashhad and were killed.

According to the IRGC’s statement, at the time the incident occurred, these two Basij members were patrolling in the Saffarazan Boulevard area, about 15 kilometers away from the Imam Reza shrine.

The incident took place at the same time as ceremonies for the procession and burial of Ali Khamenei in Mashhad.
