The family of an Indian sailor who was reported missing after an IRGC missile attack on the cargo ship GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman confirmed his death on Wednesday.
Indian news agencies, in reporting this, wrote that the family of the 30-year-old man asked the government of India to return his body safely.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs had said on Sunday that, of the 11 Indian crew members on the ship, 10 had been rescued. The ship flew the flag of Cyprus and was headed to Dubai.
U.S. Central Command had said that the IRGC attacked the ship as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz. According to a report by the International Maritime Organization of the United Nations, the Islamic Republic has attacked 56 ships in the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East since the start of the war, and 17 sailors have been killed.
