Reuters reports that ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, despite a slight rise compared to the weekend, remains at a very low level and, amid a deadlock in negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic, only six cargo ships crossed the waterway on Monday.
Based on ship-tracking data from the company Keppel, three of these vessels entered the Gulf and three left. This figure was recorded while the average traffic over the past 10 days was 11 ships. On Saturday, three ships and on Sunday only two ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
Reuters wrote that during this period no very large oil tankers carrying crude oil or LNG carriers passed through the strait. The news agency added that some vessels may have transited the route with their identification systems turned off and therefore may not have been recorded in the statistics. The data also shows that a very large gas-carrying ship without cargo entered the strait from Iran.
