Reuters, citing shipping data, reported that the number of commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz decreased to fewer than 10 vessels on Wednesday, 18 Shahrivar; while the average number of transits over the past 10 days had been about 14 vessels per day.

Based on initial data from Kpler, on Tuesday only six commercial ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz—five entered this waterway and one exited. The figure on Monday was nine.

Transit statistics may change as additional data is received, since some ships turn off their location transponders when transiting the area.

Commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen sharply in recent months. Before the outbreak of war, about 130 to 140 ships passed through the waterway per day.
