Gazete Corusulâm Post, with reference to New York Times investigations, reported that the US army likely used a Mark-84 bomb, one of the largest conventional bombs in this country, in Thursday night’s attack on Qeshm Island.

According to officials of the Islamic Republic, in this attack a residential house was targeted and a couple along with their two-year-old child were killed, while their other two children survived.

Based on its review of videos, satellite images, the blast crater, and ordnance remnants, the New York Times has suggested that a Mark-84 bomb was used in this attack.

The Jerusalem Post also wrote that no military installations were identified near the point of impact, and that Islamic Republic officials have not published any report on military casualties.

The paper, quoting a US official, added that the attacks that night, in terms of the scale of operations, were about twice as large as the night before.

The US Central Command, CENTCOM, also said it is reviewing reports related to civilian casualties, but did not provide details about the target or the type of munitions and emphasized that the US army does not target civilians.
