🔶 Judiciary announces execution of two people with the charge of “rebellion through membership in ISIS”
Mizan News Agency, the news outlet affiliated with Iran’s Judiciary, reported the execution of two people on the charge of “armed uprising against the system.”
According to this agency’s report, the execution sentence of Muhyi al-Din Abdollahi and Hossein Palani was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, 23 Tir (July 14), after being confirmed by Iran’s Supreme Court.
The Iranian Judiciary’s news outlet claimed that the two men were members of a cell affiliated with ISIS, which, after the defeat of the group in Iraq and Syria, had been deployed in the strategic heights of “Bamo” in the border strip between Iran and Iraq, with the aim of “reconstructing the organization and creating insecurity.”
According to this report, Islamic Republic security and intelligence forces identified and surrounded the hiding place of these individuals, which led to an armed clash between the parties. Mizan News Agency claimed that during this clash, a number of members of the group were killed and arrested, and quantities of weapons and ammunition were also discovered and seized. The report also confirmed that, in this operation, three members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed.
The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic announced that after the arrest of the remaining members of the group and the completion of the investigations, the court, by citing “officer reports, technical evidence, and the defendants’ statements,” sentenced Muhyi al-Din Abdollahi and Hossein Palani to death on the charge of “rebellion” (armed uprising against the Islamic Republic system). The sentence was ultimately also confirmed and upheld by the Supreme Court.
