🔶 Intensive consultations by the Trump administration with officials in Iraq and Jordan
U.S. President Donald Trump will meet and hold talks today, Tuesday, July 14 (23 Tir) at the White House with Ali al-Zaidi, the new prime minister of Iraq.
It is expected that Iran will be the main focus of Trump’s discussions with Iraq’s prime minister. In recent months, Iraq has been under intense pressure to disarm a network of militia groups supported by the Islamic Republic.
At the same time, in Rome, the Italian capital, two-day negotiations between Israeli and Lebanese representatives, with U.S. support, will begin. The focus of these talks is on a pilot program under which Lebanese army forces will be deployed in areas that the Israeli army clears.
In addition, Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, will meet on Tuesday afternoon in Washington with Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting takes place as Jordanian territory has been targeted repeatedly by retaliatory missile attacks from the Islamic Republic over the past week.
