🔸 Belgium imposes road tolls on all vehicles
Driving a car in Belgium in the future will be subject to paying tolls. Until now, drivers in Belgium could travel on almost all road routes without paying tolls. Now, three regions of this country have reached an agreement to implement a toll sticker for passenger cars; the plan will include both Belgian citizens and foreign drivers. The cost of this sticker will vary depending on the type of vehicle. François Desquenne, the infrastructure and transport minister for the Wallonia region, said: “Anyone who uses our roads must pay a fair share for their maintenance.”
In Belgium, matters related to road traffic are handled by the three regions of the country: the Flanders region, the Wallonia region, and the Brussels-Capital region.
Accordingly, electric cars will pay the lowest amount, with an estimated annual cost of 90 euros, while older vehicles with combustion engines may have to pay up to 125 euros.
Short-term fees, from one day to two months, have also been set.
Motorcycles and passenger buses, among other vehicles, will be exempt from these regulations.
Monitoring the implementation of this plan will be carried out through cameras as well, and in case of a violation, a fine of 70 euros will await drivers. 📌 For full access to the report, visit the website of Deutsche Welle Persian.
