TAMPA, Florida — The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) at 9:00 p.m. on July 20 Eastern Time (04:30 Iran time) brought another round of attacks against Iran to an end.
U.S. forces targeted Iran’s military command centers, naval capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems in order to weaken the country’s ability to continue attacks on commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Commercial vessel traffic through this critical international passage continues. Since the beginning of May, CENTCOM forces have helped facilitate the transit of about 900 commercial ships and the transfer of nearly 450 million barrels of crude oil.
U.S. forces remain fully prepared and are ready to hold Iran accountable for aggressive and unjustified actions against non-military mariners.
