🔻Todd Boehly, the chairman of Chelsea, and Mark Walter, the manager of this club, decided to transfer their shares to Clearlake Capital, the majority owner of Chelsea. This way, Clearlake, which is run by Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, its co-founders, took full control of the club.
🔹Boehly, Walter, and Hansjörg Weiss, a Swiss billionaire, each held 12.8% of Chelsea’s shares, while Clearlake previously owned 61.5% of the club’s shares.
🔹Chelsea, in a statement, announced that Weiss will continue to remain a shareholder and an important partner in the club’s ownership group.
🔹Clearlake paid nearly one billion pounds to buy the two stakes that were transferred, which together account for about a quarter of the club’s shares. Club sources said the value of Chelsea is about five billion pounds.
🔹Todd Boehly, an American citizen, stepped down from his position as club chairman; a role he had held since 2022 and after Chelsea was bought by the consortium led by him with a sum of 2.3 billion pounds.
