On the eve of the fourth anniversary of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests, ten civil and labor organizations, in a statement, emphasized the continued persistence of this movement and protest against “poverty, inequality, discrimination, and repression.”

In their statement, these organizations said that the killing of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini after she was detained by the Guidance Patrol was the starting point of the protests in 1401, and wrote that these protests turned into a broad movement in Iran and around the world.

The signatories described the 1401 protests as the “first women’s revolution” in the history of Iran, and said that widespread suppression of protesters was unable to halt this movement, and that afterward, protests continued with a focus on economic, livelihood, and social freedoms.
