Russian Colonel Nikolay Varpakhovich, commander of the 22nd Heavy Bomber Air Division, was targeted in an assassination attempt in Saratov.

An unknown attacker was waiting near the location of his residence in Probozdniye and then opened fire at him, hitting him in the head and abdomen. The attacker then fled by motorcycle.

The report claims he is in critical condition and is currently hospitalized.
