Reuters reported on Wednesday, 18 Shahrivar, that as a result of an incident involving an oil tanker carrying petroleum products “Hercules Star” near Dubai, one crew member was killed and another was missing.

“Peninsula,” the leasing company of this tanker with the flag of Gibraltar, said a specialized team is searching for the missing crew member and that the rest of the ship’s crew are safe.

The company did not provide any explanation about the cause of the incident. However, Reuters, citing maritime security sources, wrote that initial assessments indicate the tanker was likely targeted by a drone attack.

On Wednesday, 18 Shahrivar, the United Kingdom’s Maritime Trade Operations Center had announced that it had received a report about an attack on a vessel 24 nautical miles northwest of the port of Rashid in Dubai.
