〰 Officials said two people were killed during a security operation in Sistan and Baluchestan province and claimed the two individuals were members of an armed “cell” that intended to carry out attacks in this province.
The public relations office of the IRGC Ground Forces’ “Qods Headquarters” said the operation was carried out jointly, with the participation of Qods Headquarters forces, the General Directorate of Intelligence, the IRGC Intelligence Organization in Sistan and Baluchestan, and the Law Enforcement Command of this province, following what it called “intelligence surveillance.”
Based on the account given by the country’s officials, members of this group intended to carry out armed attacks against targets that had been predetermined. The officials said two members of this cell were killed before any attack could be carried out.
The country’s officials also accused the group of ties to Israel and the United States and said its members intended to carry out an armed operation in Sistan and Baluchestan at the same time as fighting Washington and Tel Aviv.
In the statement that was released, no details were provided about the identity of the two killed individuals, the type of the intended targets, or how the cell’s alleged links to the United States and Israel worked.
