🔻Media close to the Turkish government: Iran and Israel are seeking to weaken the Mecca pact

🔻 Yeni Şafak, a newspaper that supports the Turkish government, argued in an article written by Yahya Bostan that the recent attacks by groups backed by Iran, including Yemen’s Houthis, on Saudi Arabia are part of a regional “plot” aimed at weakening the Mecca pact among Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.

In his September 15 article, Yahya Bostan argued that both Israel and Iran are seeking to weaken the emerging Mecca alliance and increase pressure on Riyadh. The title of his article also describes this situation as “an obvious plot against the Mecca alliance.”

Bostan wrote that Israel is worried about the “Mecca pact,” because the formation of a rival bloc could “threaten” its interests, and also because Riyadh has previously been “one of the main pillars” of a regional architecture focused on Israel.

He argued that the war in Gaza and the formation of a “diplomatic network backed by Turkey” as a result of it have kept Riyadh from normalizing relations with Israel; while the Mecca pact also threatens Israel’s plans to integrate Saudi Arabia into its intended regional economic and diplomatic architecture.

Yahya Bostan also argued that Iran is simultaneously seeking to pressure Saudi Arabia through its regional allies.
