Lebanon’s president confirmed that “there is currently no new dialogue with Israel.”
Joseph Aoun said this during a trip to Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon, along with the commander of the armed forces of the country.
Aoun’s remarks came after a U.S. State Department official said that the next round of talks, mediated by Washington and scheduled to be held in Rome next week, has been postponed to Mehr (October in the Iranian calendar).
The Lebanese president’s visit to Nabatiyeh is taking place during days when Israel’s attacks on southern Lebanon have intensified. Attacks early on Monday on the town of Kfar Reman left at least 11 people dead, including two children and two aid workers.
