Kim Jong Un said that North Korea’s new 5,000-ton destroyer, Kang Kon, would be part of the country’s nuclear response system, while Pyongyang expands its naval forces.

Kim said at the ceremony handing over the ship in Wonsan: “The time has come for us to assert our sovereignty in the sea and underwater,” and warned that North Korea could “deliver devastating retaliatory strikes.”
