🔻Katy Perry protests the White House’s use of “Firework” in a video of an attack on Iran
Katy Perry, an American singer, said that she was “stunned and disgusted” by the White House’s use of the song “Firework” in a video of the U.S.’s military attacks on Iran.
In the video, which was posted on TikTok, images of the bombs exploding are synced with a part of the song in which Katy Perry sings the words “Boom, boom, boom.”
She says that the song was originally written as an anthem about hope, healing, and inner strength, and that the White House’s use of it violates the meaning that the work represents.
Earlier, a number of singers, including Olivia Rodrigo and Ariana Grande, also protested the Trump administration’s use of their works.
