Iran-backed Houthis said they targeted an international airport in the southwest of Saudi Arabia on Monday 22 Tir with ballistic missiles and drones.

Saudi Arabia’s state media said the country’s air defense systems intercepted the missiles, and no report of casualties was released. The Houthis said the attack was in response to Saudi Arabia’s airstrike on the Sana’a airport the previous day.

The internationally recognized Yemeni government said the reason for the attack was to prevent the landing of an Iranian plane carrying a Houthi delegation returning from the funeral ceremonies of Ali Khamenei.
