🔻Following the fire of a tanker carrying fuel materials on the Sanandaj–Hamedan route on Saturday, 11 people were killed and seven others were injured.
Following this incident, the governor of Kurdistan has announced two days of public mourning across the province.
IRNA, citing Kurdistan Judiciary’s public relations, reports that the incident occurred at around 17:30 at the entrance to the city of Sanandaj, during which a fuel tanker carrying 20,000 liters of gasoline crashes from behind into a minibus, immediately followed by an explosion, and both vehicle drivers died.
Mohammad Jabbari, head of the Kurdistan Judiciary, said that a judicial case has been opened in order to investigate the causes of the incident.
He also said that initial investigations indicate that the cause of the accident was a technical malfunction in the fuel tanker’s brakes, and that with the presence of rescue and firefighting forces, the incident was managed and other incidents were prevented.
