〰 CENTCOM: U.S. Central Command carried out a new wave of aggressive attacks against Iran on July 12, using precision munitions, targeting dozens of sites in several locations to reduce Iran’s ability to continue attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In this operation, Iran’s air defense systems, coastal radars, missile and drone capabilities, as well as fast boats, were targeted. The attacks used U.S. fighter jets, Navy vessels, suicide drones, and for the first time, unmanned suicide naval vessels.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important sea routes for global trade, and Iran does not have control over it.
U.S. forces in the region are prepared to preserve freedom of navigation for commercial ships despite what Washington calls “Iran’s aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary actions.”
