🔶 Iran’s chargé d’affaires summoned in Britain in the case of the attack on Pouria Zeraati Four days after prison sentences were issued for two Romanian attackers over a knife attack on Pouria Zeraati, an Iranian television reporter for Iran International, the UK government on Tuesday, July 7 (June 16), summoned the chargé d’affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy in London. According to Reuters, the British Foreign Office said in a statement that the judge in the case concluded that “the attack [on the reporter] was carried out in the interests of and on behalf of the Iranian government.” The statement said: “The action follows a long-standing pattern of hostile activities by Iran’s intelligence services on British soil.” The UK government described the actions of the Islamic Republic as an attempt to “undermine the sovereignty and security” of the country and called them “completely unacceptable.” The embassy of the Islamic Republic in London did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment on the matter. Nadito Bădea, 21, and George Stana, 25—two Romanian nationals—were sentenced by a court in Britain on Friday, June 12, to 8 and 12 years in prison, respectively.
