Andy Burnham, the UK prime minister, announced in a phone call with Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, that London is alongside the government and the people of Kuwait, and emphasized its support for “whatever preserves Kuwait’s sovereignty, security, and stability.”

According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they also discussed “the historical relations between the two countries and the friendly two peoples, a number of issues of shared interest, and the latest regional and international developments, especially in light of the current conditions in the region.”

Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, congratulated Burnham on his appointment as prime minister of the United Kingdom during the phone call.
