According to information received by Iran International, the death sentence of Ali Rahimi Rigy, 32, a detainee of the protests of Dey (December-January), has been upheld by the Court of Appeals.

Ali Rahimi Rigy, a resident of Lordegan, was arrested on Dey 11, 1404 (January 1, 2026), at around 2 a.m., by the IRGC Intelligence forces, and was first transferred to a detention facility of this institution.

After some time, he was transferred to Lordegan Prison.

According to the information received, the charges brought against him include “enmity against God (moharebeh),” “corruption on earth (efsad fil arz),” “disruption of the country’s order,” “incitement against the system,” “carrying weapons,” “insubordination toward a state officer,” and “destruction of public and state property.”

According to a source familiar with the matter, from the beginning of his detention Ali accepted responsibility for the allegations brought against him alone in order to prevent the arrest of his friends and acquaintances, and said that the alleged actions were carried out by himself.

According to this source, the defense briefs submitted by Ali and his family were not examined. In addition, the lawyer whom the family had introduced to defend him was not allowed to enter the case file, and a court-appointed lawyer was assigned for Ali. However, he did not accept the court-appointed lawyer, and during the course of the proceedings he defended himself in person.
