A crushing blow to the IRGC in Turkey
The United States has sanctioned a Turkish bank that cooperates with the IRGC. The United States, by sanctioning a bank and two companies operating in Turkey, targeted one of the financial routes used by the IRGC’s Quds Force to transfer tens of millions of dollars and gain access to the international banking network—an action that could further tighten the pressure on the Islamic Republic regime’s financial network. On Friday, 13 Shahrivar 1405, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that “Golden Global Bank” and two companies affiliated with it, “Golden Global Varliq Keralaya” and “Golden Global Portfolio Unitimi,” have been sanctioned under the campaign “economic isolation.” All three entities operate in Turkey. According to the U.S. Treasury, in recent years the bank and its affiliated companies have carried out tens of millions of dollars in transactions for the Quds Force of the IRGC and have enabled Iranian regime financial institutions to access correspondent banking services; a route that made it possible to transfer the government’s financial resources at the international level. Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury Secretary, called this action part of Donald Trump’s administration campaign to cut off the financial resources of the Iranian regime
