The director-general of procurement and logistics at Iran’s Trade Development Organization says that cargo shipping lines from the UAE to Iran have been directly activated. Over the past four months, due to the Islamic Republic’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and widespread attacks on the UAE, trade between the two countries had been halted. The UAE is Iran’s largest exporter of goods, and one third of Iran’s imports come from this country. Ali Emami then claimed that trade relations are returning to “normal conditions”; however, he said that the cost of shipping goods to Iran is still being calculated at wartime rates. According to him, a container that under normal conditions was shipped from China to Iran at roughly $2,500 to $3,500 is now being transported on this route at a rate of $8,000 to $9,000.
