Severe monsoon rains have caused widespread flooding in northern and northeastern Bangladesh, forcing more than 35,000 people to leave their homes, according to officials. The rising water has inundated villages, damaged roads, and disrupted daily life across several districts.
Authorities said hundreds of houses have been affected as the flooding spreads through low-lying areas. Emergency crews and local officials are working to move residents to safer ground and assess the extent of the damage.
Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to seasonal flooding, especially during periods of intense monsoon rainfall. For families already living close to the edge, the latest deluge adds fresh pressure on shelter, food access, and basic services.
Officials continue to monitor river levels and weather conditions as more rain is forecast in some areas. The full scale of the humanitarian impact is still being assessed.
