Yehiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, said in an interview with Iran International that victory over the Islamic Republic means preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons, stopping the production of a large number of ballistic missiles, and ending the Islamic Republic’s support for proxy forces in the region.

Leiter accused the Islamic Republic of spreading an “intolerant form of Islam,” which he called “the cult of death,” and said that Hezbollah, Assad’s government, and Hamas are examples of the Islamic Republic’s influence in the region.

In response to the question of whether victory requires the fall of the Islamic Republic government, he said: “Certainly. If the government doesn’t fall, if it doesn’t collapse, they will find a way to rebuild themselves.”

The Israeli ambassador to the United States also referred to the policies of Donald Trump, the U.S. president, and said that Washington’s siege and economic sanctions have created “a suffocating pressure on the government.”

Leiter added: “They won’t be able to survive this situation.”
