A video attributed to the claim by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that it attacked three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz;
The IRGC announced that its naval force targeted three oil tankers in the “unauthorized route” of the Strait of Hormuz and three vessels affiliated with the United States in other areas.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, the IRGC Navy said the action was a response to the U.S. Army’s attack on three oil tankers belonging to the Islamic Republic.
Separate on Sunday, the IRGC also claimed to have attacked an unmanned U.S. military surface vessel attempting to enter the Strait of Hormuz.
Ali Mohammadi, the political deputy of the IRGC Navy, told Fars News Agency: “In the 10 days leading up to 8 Mehr, the IRGC Navy has each night admonished and punished between 2 and 5 violating vessels.”
On Saturday, 14 Mehr, in response to the IRGC Navy’s missile attack on two U.S. warships, Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of War, warned that if the Islamic Republic fires at American ships, U.S. forces would “destroy and sink” its oil tankers.
