🔶 UK Foreign Secretary: Settler terrorism has become widespread

The UK foreign minister, in remarks in the House of Commons, said the London government considers Israel’s occupation of the West Bank “illegal” and intends to ban all economic transactions with Israeli settlements.

David Miliband, in the House of Commons, said the settlers’ violence against Palestinians in the West Bank has increased in a worrying way. Citing reports from the United Nations, he said this year, on average, 6 violent attacks by settlers against Palestinians have been recorded daily, the highest figure ever recorded.

Miliband said: “Settler terrorism has become widespread.”

The UK foreign minister said the London government agrees with the assessment that in parts of the West Bank, “ethnic cleansing” of Palestinians is taking place.

He attributed this trend to “settler terrorists” and added that the Israeli government has turned a blind eye to the situation.

Miliband also said that some members of the Israeli government have even supported the forced displacement of Palestinians with their statements and actions.
