Thousands took part on Monday in a funeral in Belgrade for the body of Ratko Mladić, the Bosnian Serb convicted war criminal known as “Bosnia’s butcher,” despite warnings from the European Union against inflating him.

Several Serbian ministers attended the ceremony, while Mladić’s coffin was covered with a national flag and accompanied by military honors.
