Tehran City Council chief, in response to reporters’ question about power outages without prior notice, claimed that this was due to the targeting of electrical facilities “in the past 48 hours.”
Mahdi Chamran has told reporters that if they had known how many electrical facilities were hit two days ago, they wouldn’t have asked this question.
The claim is being made while, to date, neither officials of the Islamic Republic nor the United States have confirmed an attack on energy infrastructure, including power installations.
On the other hand, the deputy of the Ministry of Energy had previously stated that with the arrival of the hot season and the peak in consumption, restrictions would be imposed in the residential sector in order to maintain the security and stability of the power grid. Mostafa Rajabi Mashhad, claimed that power outages would be imposed for a maximum of two hours, with planning and prior notification.
