TankerTrackers, the oil-tanker tracking company, reported that Middle East oil-exporting countries are expanding alternative routes to reduce the volume of oil transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, and that this trend is significantly changing the outlook for oil exports in the region.

According to this report, Iraq is transporting more than 100,000 barrels of oil per day by truck to Syria in order to reach the Mediterranean Sea.

TankerTrackers wrote that the United Arab Emirates is also expected to double its capacity for an oil pipeline running to the Gulf of Oman next year.

Based on the same report, Saudi Arabia is now transporting most of its export crude oil via the Red Sea route, and other countries in the region are also reviewing and developing alternative routes to reduce reliance on the Strait of Hormuz.
