🔶 Statement of 268 Political Activists; “We Don’t Want War”
The Telegram channel “Kaleme” has published a statement by 268 political and civic activists, university professors, and former members of parliament, opposing war.
The signatories of the statement—whose names also include a number of former members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly—said that “Iranian citizens have the right to live a dignified life in peace and security,” adding: “The minimum benefit of peace is the complete and final end of the war and putting an end to any kind of threat, hate-mongering, and war-mongering.”
The statement further emphasizes that “the vast majority of the Iranian people want peace and to enjoy the right to a decent life,” adding: “Since no decision should be imposed on the country contrary to the will of the nation—and this will is always verifiable through recourse to public opinion polls—we strongly remind all governments and military groups involved in the ongoing hostilities in the Middle East, as well as all actors in the international community, that violating this inalienable right of Iranians is a grave crime against a nation that does not want war and supports peace.”
