Reza Najafi, ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic in Vienna, in response to the report of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said that with the end of the war, the groundwork for the Agency’s verification activities in Iran will be provided.
Najafi added that the comprehensive safeguards agreement does not set out specific rules for carrying them out in wartime conditions, and the International Atomic Energy Agency should not expect safeguards actions in wartime conditions to be carried out in the same way as in normal circumstances.
He said: “Tehran has remained committed to its obligations, but the military attacks by the United States and Israel and their continued threats have significantly affected the implementation of safeguards in Iran.”
