Reports of intense clashes between security forces and armed individuals in Saravan
🔸Iranian media and a Baluch human rights website have reported the occurrence of intense clashes between military and security forces and armed individuals in the Bakhshan area of Saravan County.
🔸The Havsh website reported that the clashes began at around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21 (Shahrivar 21), after the entry of dozens of military and security forces into the area, and continued for more than three hours. According to local sources cited by the website, at least 14 explosions and burst gunfire were heard around the headquarters of the Revolutionary Guards in Saravan, Enqelab (Revolution) Street, and the vicinity of the Information Office and the prison.
🔸Havsh also reported reconnaissance drone flights, the deployment of several ambulances, and the targeting of a residential house with more than 20 RPG rounds and several grenades; however, it emphasized that it had not independently verified details of the attack on that house.
🔸The website also reported, quoting its own sources, that a number of military and security forces were killed and injured, but their numbers and identities are not clear.
🔸Meanwhile, the ISNA news agency, citing the deputy for security and police affairs of the governor of Sistan and Baluchestan, stated that people whom he called members of “hostile groups” had gathered at a point in Saravan “to carry out sabotage and terrorist actions,” and were targeted by the security forces’ operation. 🔸Domestic Iranian media and Havsh have also published videos of explosions resulting from these clashes.
🔸The identities of the armed individuals, the exact cause of the outbreak of the clashes, and the extent of casualties on both sides remain unclear, and no report has been published regarding possible harm to civilians. Radio Farda cannot independently verify the details of these reports.
