حالوش, citing local sources, reported that in the early hours of Sunday, 22 Shahrivar, the sound of continuous gunfire from around police posts and military bases in several parts of the Bakhshan area of Saravan was heard.
According to these sources, the shootings were one-sided and, as of the time of publication of the report, no news had been received of fresh clashes between military forces and armed individuals.
The cause of the shootings and the type of weapons used are not known, and military and security officials have not provided any explanation as of the time the report was published. The possibility of celebratory/air gunfire that some local sources have mentioned has not been independently confirmed.
The report was published one day after a roughly nine-hour clash between military and security forces and armed individuals affiliated with the “Popular Fighters Front.” The group had said four of its members were killed and 21 other personnel were injured; in contrast, the Quds Force Ground Forces headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported three of its personnel killed and four armed individuals killed.
