🔶 Qatar Interior Ministry: A child was injured in an Iranian missile attack
The Qatar Interior Ministry announced on the morning of Friday, 26 Tir (17 July) that, during efforts to counter an Iranian missile attack, a child was injured as a result of shrapnel impact and is receiving treatment. The Qatar Ministry of Defense also said that its missile defense system operated successfully in response to the Iranian attacks.
Reuters, citing an eyewitness, reported that several explosions were heard in Doha, the capital of Qatar. In the wake of these attacks, the Qatari government sent warning messages to citizens’ mobile phones.
In justifying its attacks on Gulf-bordering countries, including Qatar, the Islamic Republic argues that these attacks are in response to U.S. actions against Iran.
Contrary to some other Arab countries on the shores of the Persian Gulf, Qatar has good relations with the Islamic Republic and, together with Turkey, has played an important role in mediation and in signing a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. However, the Islamic Republic has so far targeted this country several times with missile and drone attacks.
