Tino Chrupalla, one of the leaders of Alternative for Germany, while calling the election results in Saxony-Anhalt “amazing,” said: “Our party, with the strong result it achieved in the elections in Saxony-Anhalt, has been given the vote and the mandate by the people to form a government and run this state.”

He added: “Ulrich Siegmund will be the new prime minister of Saxony-Anhalt. We will change Germany from here.”

Chrupalla also said that “if the party cannot achieve an absolute majority, it will be ready for negotiations,” adding: “In principle, the AfD is ready to enter a coalition with a party that is prepared to change migration and energy policies, but at the moment we don’t see a party that has such readiness.”
