Media affiliated with the Houthis reported that Yemen’s Sanaa International Airport was targeted by several airstrikes by Saudi Arabia and that its flight runways were targeted.
The Fars News Agency also claimed that the attack was carried out as an Iranian aircraft approached the airport.
Last Friday, an Iranian aircraft also landed in Sanaa, and the Houthis announced that Saudi fighter jets had tried to prevent the landing and retreated after firing air defenses.
After this attack, a Houthi military spokesperson warned that Saudi Arabia must bear the consequences of its aggression and said that this attack would never go unanswered or unpunished.
The Houthis, known as Ansarallah, are a militia group financially and militarily backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran. They have held power in the capital and much of northern Yemen since September 2014, after taking control of Sanaa.
