🔻Malaysia will host Formula One in place of Bahrain
Formula One officials and the International Automobile Racing Federation have confirmed Malaysia’s addition to the 2026 race calendar as the venue for the Bahrain Grand Prix. Formula One and the International Automobile Racing Federation said that Malaysia, at the Sepang International Circuit, from 10 to 12 Mehr (2 to 4 October 2026), between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix, will host the Gulf Air Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix.
This event, which requires final agreements and official signatures, including approval by the World Motor Sports Council, will become the “Gulf Air Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix in Malaysia.” If agreement is not reached on the change of venue, the Bahrain Grand Prix would be removed from the 2026 Formula One calendar. The rest of this season’s race schedule will not change.
Mohammed bin Sulayem, president of the International Automobile Racing Federation (FIA), said: “Throughout this process, the FIA, Formula One management, and our partners in Bahrain worked tirelessly to examine all options, while the safety and well-being of our teams, marshals, officials, partners, and fans remained our highest priority.”
Iran’s attacks on countries in the region, including Bahrain, have led to a change in the hosting of Formula One races.
