The Kurdistan Human Rights Network reported that Zeyneb Jalaliyan, Variesheh Moradi, Sikinah Parvaneh and Mataleb Ahmadian, four Kurdish political prisoners held in Yazd and Evin prisons, announced that on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar, they will go on a hunger strike in support of the “call for a general strike in Kurdistan.”
These four political prisoners, in a statement, called the hunger strike “the most civic form of expressing protest” and announced that on the anniversary of the government killing of Mahsa Jina Amini and the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising, they will join the general strike.
The coalition of Kurdish political forces in Iran had earlier, by publishing a joint statement, asked the public to, on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar, simultaneous with the fourth anniversary of the government killing of Mahsa Jina Amini and the start of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, take part in a general strike by closing shops and bazaars and refraining from going to their workplaces.
