Iran’s foreign ministry said on Monday night that Abbas Araqchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, had a phone call with Nabih Berri, head of Lebanon’s parliament, and added: “The two sides discussed regional developments and the need to strengthen coordination among the countries in the region” to confront what it called Israel’s “expansionism and war-mongering” against Lebanon and other countries in the region.
According to this report, Araqchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, while referring to what he called Iran’s “constant concern for preserving Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity against Israel’s encroachments,” emphasized Tehran’s full support for “Lebanon’s resistance” [Hizbollah].
Lebanese government officials have repeatedly criticized the Islamic Republic’s interference in their country.
