The French foreign minister said that an employee and a cultural attaché of this country’s embassy, who had been detained in Tehran and targeted for mistreatment, have returned to Paris. Jean-Noël Barrot described the action as a “very serious and premeditated offense.” He had previously said that the detention and questioning of the two people was an explicit violation of diplomatic immunity.
