🔺Dozens detained in Turkey on bribery charges
▪Turkey’s prosecutor’s office ordered the detention of 36 people, including the mayor of one of the districts under the main opposition party’s control in Ankara, as part of investigations into allegations of bribery and collusion in public tenders.
▪According to a statement by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office published on Saturday, 27 of the suspects detained so far have been arrested, and a search is underway to arrest the other individuals
▪Hüseyin Can Gönner, mayor of the Çankaya district and a member of the Republican People’s Party, said in a post on the X social network that he had informed the judicial authorities of his location and, while on his way back to Ankara, had also provided a spare key to his home to the officers in order to carry out an inspection.
